Job Summary
The HSE supervisor ensures the application of safety and prevention measures in force on the site and/or supervised area. Also ensures that the hygiene rules are put in place and respected to ensure the health of teams and stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Implement HSE management systems and ensure compliance with regulations and reducing risks.
- Supervise HSE staff and manage day-to-day operations related to HSE programs.
- Lead audits, identify issues and ensure continual improvement.
- Train and mentor other safety professionals.
- Champion incident reporting, investigations and closure of all incidents in a timely manner.
- Monitor construction and operation activities to ensure compliance with safety and environmental standards.
- Coordinate the company’s HSE network.
- Lead safety campaigns, while promoting and enforcing best practices.
- Ensure the completion and regular review of risk assessments for all work equipment and operations.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering, systems engineering, mechanical engineering, or a related field.
- Minimum of 3 – 5 years of previous safety work experience.
- Professional membership or registration in Nigerian Institute of Safety Professionals.
- Experience in the industrial construction field with in-depth HSE field work.
- Able to work as part of a team as well as being able to be a self-starter.
- Able to work with deadlines and possess a proven track record of delivering required projects in a timely and professional manner.
Skills
- Risk Assessment: Ability to identify potential hazards and evaluate risks in the workplace.
- Safety Regulations: Deep understanding of local, national, and international safety standards and regulations.
- Incident Investigation: Proficiency in investigating accidents and incidents to determine root causes and recommend preventive measures.
- Health and Safety Audits: Conducting regular audits to ensure compliance with safety protocols.
