Job Description

Job Summary:

The Depot Supervisor is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of a depot, ensuring efficient management of inventory, personnel, and logistics. This role includes coordinating the receipt, storage, and dispatch of goods while maintaining high safety, compliance, and performance standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operational Management: Supervises all depot activities, including receiving, storing, and dispatching goods. Ensures timely and accurate loading/unloading of products. Monitors and optimizes depot workflows to achieve operational efficiency.
  • Staff Supervision: Manages a team of depot workers, including assigning tasks, setting schedules, and monitoring performance. Trains and mentors staff to improve skills and ensure compliance with operational standards. Fosters a positive and productive work environment.
  •  Inventory Management: Tracks and manages inventory levels to avoid shortages or excess stock. Conducts regular stock checks and reconcile discrepancies. Ensures proper handling and storage of goods to prevent damage or loss.
  • Safety and Compliance: Enforces adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations. Conducts regular safety checks and implement corrective measures as needed. Ensures compliance with industry and company policies regarding depot operations.
  • Logistics Coordination: Coordinates with transport teams for the efficient delivery and receipt of goods. Liaises with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth operations. Addresses any logistical challenges or delays promptly.
  • Equipment and Facility Maintenance: Oversees the maintenance and proper use of depot equipment and facilities. Schedules regular inspections and address any repairs or maintenance needs. Ensures cleanliness and organization of the depot premises.
  • Reporting and Documentation: Maintains accurate records of all depot activities, including inventory, dispatch, and staff performance. Prepares reports for management on depot operations, productivity, and issues. Tracks and reports key performance indicators (KPIs) for the depot.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum 2-5 years proven experience in depot, warehouse, or logistics management.
  • Strong knowledge of inventory control and logistics processes.
  • Familiarity with safety standards and regulatory requirements.
