Job Summary:

The Terminal Operator is responsible for managing the safe and efficient operations of a terminal facility. This role involves overseeing the loading and unloading of products, maintaining equipment, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting the smooth flow of terminal activities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Operations Management: Oversees the loading, unloading, and storage of products such as petroleum, chemicals, or cargo. Operates terminal equipment like pumps, valves, conveyor belts, or cranes. Monitors product movement and ensure accurate documentation of all transactions.
  • Safety and Compliance: Ensures adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) policies and procedures. Conducts safety checks and risk assessments to identify potential hazards. Complies with local, national, and industry-specific regulations governing terminal operations.
  • Equipment Maintenance: Performs routine inspections and basic maintenance of terminal equipment. Reports malfunctions or damages and coordinate with maintenance teams for repairs. Ensures all tools and machinery are in good working condition.
  • Inventory and Quality Control: Monitors inventory levels and ensures accurate recording of product quantities. Conducts quality checks to confirm product specifications and detect contamination or discrepancies. Coordinates with suppliers and logistics teams to manage stock and deliveries.
  • Coordination and Communication: Works closely with logistics teams, truck drivers, vessel operators, or other stakeholders. Provides clear instructions for loading and unloading activities to ensure efficiency. Resolves operational issues promptly to avoid delays or disruptions.
  •  Record-Keeping: Maintains accurate logs of product movements, equipment usage, and maintenance activities. Prepares reports for management on terminal operations and performance metrics.

Qualifications:

  • OND or equivalent; vocational training or technical certification is a plus.
  • Minimum 2 years work experience in terminal operations, logistics, or a related field.
  • Familiarity with equipment used in terminal facilities, such as pumps, pipelines, and loading arms.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and regulations in the industry.
